Normandy - Information

There is a thriving Marina, Fishing Port and Ferry Terminal, with some good shopping at Dieppe. There are regular markets and Gourmet restaurants. Local produce is proudly sold in the Restaurants, and Normandy is famous for its Seafood, Cider and Apple Brandy called Calvados. There is a large Casino too.

Rouen is a Medieval Town, with many beautiful Oak Framed Buildings and a magnificent Cathedral. The River Seine runs through it, and large commercial Ships use it as a port to discharge their cargo.

Forges-les-Eaux is a small town to the South with a well renowned Casino, and there is Horse Racing at Dieppe and Buchy. Deauville is a well known Race course about one and a half hours away by car.

For keen Golfers the glorious Club at St. Saens has some tricky Holes approached across water, and is set in beautiful Beech Forest. The clubhouse is a Chateau, with an excellent Restaurant and a divine wine list!

The local Forests are enormous, one being the biggest Beech Forest in France, and they teem with deer and wild Boar. These forests are very walker friendly with well kept roadways.

There are Airports at Beauvais, Rouen and Paris.

For those wanting to bike on the Avenue Vert, Beau Soleil has bikes for hire. There is a very well subscribed Tennis Club in Neufchatel, the local Town, which also has a market for local produce on Saturday mornings.
