Beau Soleil is a refurbished 15th century timber-framed farmhouse lodging, nestled in the rolling green hills of Normandy. Strategically situated in the leading historical and cultural duchy of Northern France, Beau Soleil is only a 2-hour drive from Paris. Within walking distance, a world heritage tourist attraction gives the family-owned homestead-for-hire an undisputable edge. And that’s the turret-ed Chateau Mesnieres-en-Bray, a jewel of aristocratic Renaissance architecture, formerly inhabited by French King Louis XV.

The “Avenue Vert” (Green Road) is half a mile from the Farm, and is the old railway line, which has been tarmacked to create a 67 kilometre recreational thoroughfare for those wishing to bicycle in a safe way, or even to walk through this glorious part of France.

We are close to nature, that’s why 50 species of birds nest on our property every spring. The dawn chorus is unrivalled. With a busy stream running through the property, and a well-populated fish pond, Holiday Let Beau Soleil offers a quiet retreats, family getaways & countryside escapades from daily life and city stress.

  • Testimonial for our new addition: Rose Inn at Beau Soleil 23rd - 30th August 2023 We had a lovely seven night stay at Rose Inn B&B. Robert & Mellissa were fabulous hosts ... we enjoyed impeccable hospitality, charming ambience and breathtaking views.  Every moment was a delightful escape.  We can't wait to return for another unforgettable experience.

  • 24th - 28th August 2023 This was last minute, long weekend and it was wonderful. Robert and Mellissa were super friendly and very responsive with communication. The accommodation is beautifully presented and finished to a high standard. The three bedrooms and two bathrooms were perfect for our family. The welcome basket was much appreciated and the fresh eggs from their hens were delicious!

  • 19th - 22nd August 2023 A particularly nice family stay. Mellissa and Robert were very friendly and accommodating. The farmhouse is decorated and equipped with taste. As is the ground, is beautifully wooded.

  • 6th - 16th August 2023 We absolutely loved our 10-night stay at beautiful Beau Soleil. We were hooked from the moment we pulled up to the house and received a warm welcome from Robert and Mellissa.  The house itself is stunning: a lovingly-restored ancient timber-framed farmhouse, decorated in a cosy and comfortable style in keeping with the style of the house and a goodie basket including fresh eggs from their resident chickens waiting for us.  The two larger bedrooms are huge with very comfortable beds and feather duvets and pillows - just as I like! The grounds are beautiful and tranquil: full of birdlife and best of all with the 8 hens busily going about their business and approaching us to say hello.  They all have such different personalities!  We had a private terrace and BBQ and we felt so much at home. Robert and Mellissa are fabulous hosts: friendly, chatty and kind, yet discreet too.  It was good to have them on hand for any queries and their lovely dog Teal was so well-behaved. Thank you!

  • 18th - 22nd July 2023 Dear Mellissa & Robert, Thank you for the help with the TVR! It's always an excitement bringing a British classic sport car to France! We've had a lovely stay, thank you for everything.

  • 23rd - 27th June 2023 Beau Soleil - The perfect place to relax, unwind & recharge. Robert, Mellissa and Teal were wonderful hosts making us feel at home from the moment we stepped out of the car. This is so much more than an Airbnb. It's a magnificent farmhouse, nestled in the French countryside yet only a short ride away from the bustling town of Neufchâtel en Bray. We loved it and will definitely return. Thanks for everything.

  • 7th - 11th May 2023 Thank you Mellissa and Robert for the lovely time we had at Beau Soleil. A fantastic relaxing break from our busy lifestyle. We didn't think about work throughout our stay even though internet wifi was only a click away! The setting was so tranquil, peaceful and you were amazing hosts; never seen or heard but were always there when we needed you. There was enough to see and visit around the area keeping us busy when we wanted to venture out of the grounds. Thank you for your generous hospitality and allowing us to enjoy your beautiful home with an equally beautiful grounds which both of you must have invested a lot love into it. We are looking forward to visiting Beau Soleil again soon.

  • 30th April - 5th May 2023 Hi Robert, Mellissa, Teal + " The Chickens " Thank you very much for your warm welcome and kind hospitality. We have had one of our most peaceful holiday ever. Beau Soleil is a wonderful location to explore the area of Normandy. I did feel a little guilty watching you beavering around the ground and it shows how much hard work you and Mellissa do to make the ground so beautiful. Thank you once again for helping make our stay so wonderful.

The house is incredibly clean and the beds are SO comfortable!  We especially appreciated the baby bed in the room of our choice.  We recommend to all families looking for some peace and fresh air with close proximity to Normandy towns and sights!

  • 22nd - 29th October 2022 We spent a brilliant week at this charming rural property in a lovely corner of Normandy. Robert greeted us warmly on arrival and was a brilliant source of help and ideas for our holiday. The property is beautifully perched in large grounds which our girls loved exploring and was a great place for our energetic cocker spaniel. The house was clean and comfortable and the welcome goodies very well received. Highly recommended.

  • 18th - 21st August 2022 The location was fabulous, the house was gorgeous and the views were picturesque. It was incredibly peaceful with lots of space for the children to explore in the far reaching gardens. Robert and Mellissa were such welcoming hosts and we appreciated the welcome package of treats and goodies. Robert was very engaged with the children as he welcomed offers of help to feed the chickens and the fish. They were very kind as they let us have some of the eggs that the chickens had laid. We really enjoyed being able to walk to the Chemin Vert cycle route which led us to the Chateau in the village. We would recommend this stay to everyone.

  • 6th - 16th Auguest 2022 We had a wonderful 10 days in the house of Robert and Mellissa. Everything was as stated. The old farmhouse is well and lovingly renovated and the garden is in great shape. The kids had their fun playing in the garden and we enjoyed the sunsets on the terrace. We thank the very pleasant hosts and can highly recommend the house! :))

  • 31st July - 5th August, 2022 We had the most amazing, comfortable and relaxing holiday at Robert and Mellissa's beautiful cottage in stunning surroundings. Even though they were so invisible, they live next door and were always available for advise and help if we needed it. It was a pleasure meeting other members of the family too whilst on their holiday. The considering nature of all members made us feel we had the entire space and fields all to ourselves. We wish this hard working family every success. We will be back.
    Mahseema – Cardiff, United Kingdom

  • 18th -25th Jul 2022 We had a wonderful time in Beau Soleil. The house was exactly as described, the welcome was warm and friendly. We really appreciated the slight seclusion. Our children and our dog enjoyed the freedom on the property. We will never forget the evening hours with a glass of wine on the terrace. The rooms were stylishly furnished and very comfortable. The kitchen was neat and functional, allowing us to cater well and happily for ourselves. We will be very happy to recommend Beau Soleil and will be happy to come back.
    Lars Kuhkmann – Northern Germany
  • 4th - 13th Jul 2022 Robert and Mellissa are wonderful hosts. Their beautiful house and garden is well located. You can feel all the love and effort they put in the house during the renovation. We had great walks with our dog in the surroundings of the house and enjoyed visiting all the villages nearby. We love to come again.

Matthieu Chelet – La Baule-Escoublac, France
  • 5th - 10th May 2022 Robert and Mellissa's place is beautiful and very comfortable for a family (we were 6 staying in the house). The kids loved exploring the grounds and feeding the fish with Robert (he kept the pond closed and locked for safety the rest of the time) and looking at the animals. We had easy half-day trips to beaches and the Parc de Cléres. You definitely need a car to get there and get around the area because it's pretty isolated, but this was perfect for us as we were looking for a peaceful low-stress getaway. There's no clothes washing machine, which concerned us at first since we have small children, but we were fine, and it forced us to take a break from laundry as well. We'd love to go back another time! ( This is a good review. Consider washing machine is Done! - Robert & Mellissa )

  • 24th April - 1st May 2022 Lovely people and house. We thoroughly enjoy our stay and hope to be back soon!
    Louise Slater – Oxford, UK
  • 15th - 18th April 2022 Robert and Mellissa's house is exactly as described: the house is clean and fully equipped with spacious beautiful grounds.  It is perfectly located within a short 2.5 hours driving distance from Paris and to neighbouring attractions (coast, Rouen, chateaux, nature).  Robert and Mellissa themselves are wonderful hosts, friendly, helpful and reactive.  Thank you for a lovely stay!
    Poeli Bojorquez from Paris, France
    Claire Dumont from Paris, France

  • This place is far superior to any other holiday let's we have stayed in.  Great touches which give it the feel of a boutique hotel but also very homely.  Highly recommended.
Cymbeline Leadbitter from Bordon, United Kingdom
    Frank Monchal from Paris, France
  • Robert & Mellissa is the best host you can expect.  They find solutions, are flexible and very careful!  The house was super clean, exactly like photos and a perfect home to enjoy a long week-end with friends in Normandy.
    Victor Dancette from Wasquehal, France
  • Robert and Mellissa have a wonderful house that is located on a beautiful spot. We felt very welcome and had a pleasant stay. From the house it was just a 30 minute drive to the beach in Dieppe through a beautiful landscape. A perfect location if you want to explore the surroundings.

    Miriam Rose from London, England
  • " The house of Robert and Mellissa is perfect for a family weekend, quiet, in the countryside!  The house is immaculate!  The flowers of the garden and the little touches upon our arrival touched us.  1 hour from Honfleur or Etretat, the location in the countryside is ideal!  'Avenue Verte' nearby (former railway rehabilitated bike path linking Paris to London) adds another positive point to our stay.  In a word: perfect! "
    Maxime Mireau from Haubourdin, France
  • "One of the first thing to stand out about our stay was the outstanding and welcoming hospitality from Robert and Mellissa.  We loved the personal touches and how they were on hand to help us with various things!  We come to France a lot and this was one of my most favourite and memorable visits. The house and garden are beautiful and we felt very comfortable.  It was clean and well equipped.  Very characteristic!  We would recommend a trip to Dieppe, especially when the markets are on!  Fantastic week, we will be back."

  • “Absolutely brilliant stay in a beautiful home. Hosts were exceptionally thoughtful and provided a brilliant service. Would highly recommend! House was spotlessly clean and stylist boasting with character features. The area was very pleasant, a lovely place to go for walks. Thank you to Robert and Mellissa for a most enjoyable stay.”
Rebecca Rayner from Danbury, United Kingdom
  • “We had a really good time with our family at this place. We loved the nature views, the surroundings and the coziness in the garden and in the house. The rooms are very spacious and everything was very clean. When we arrived there were fresh flowers and a basket with welcome treats. We were travelling with a 1.5 year old, so they made sure there was a baby cot and a high chair. Robert and Mellissa were very discrete yet warm and always at our disposal if we had any questions. We would highly recommend this place to stay!”
    David Hannon from Gent, Belgium

We drove down from Paris on the nice highway and took only 2 hours. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the 2 great and generous hosts, Robert and Mellissa. Staying at this 17th century house indeed a rare experience from where I am coming from. The place is clean and the rooms are spacious. The place is also easily accessible to many historical sites with rich history. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back here when the next opportunity comes around. Thank you so much for hosting us so well!!

Set in a peaceful location with fantastic panoramic views - Beau Soleil is an idyllic base to explore the beautiful Normandy countryside. The local market town of Neufchâtel-en-Bray has a good range of shops and a great Saturday market - full of wonderful local produce. Hidden gems, great coastlines, beautiful gardens, fabulous restaurants and many historic WW2 sites are all within an easy drive. The rooms and facilities inside Beau Soleil are full of character and very comfortable, with everything you need to make it a special stay. A home from home that is always a pleasure to return to. As always, beautifully presented; with the added benefit of seeing it in the Spring. Delightful!

The hosts, Robert and Mellissa, are delightful and very welcoming. Robert’s knowledge of the local history and world war two sites is fascinating. The farmhouse, views are beautiful. Watching the landscape turn from frost to warm sunlight, with the quietness of it’s surrounding land, gives the feeling of great tranquility. I look forward to visiting again. All the best and thank you!
